Les, I'm still running FC7 and I just use left-ctrl + left-alt + numpad
plus-key OR numpad-minus-key to change resolutions, up or down. You do
have to have those resolutions defined in /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Section "Screen"
    Identifier     "Screen0"
    Device         "Videocard0"
    Monitor        "Monitor0"
    DefaultDepth    24
    Option         "TwinView" "0"
    Option         "metamodes" "1280x1024 +0+0; 1280x960 +0+0; 1280x800+0+0; 1280x720 +0+0;
1152x864 +0+0; 1152x768 +0+0; 1024x768 +0+0; 800x600 +0+0; 640x480 +0+0"
    SubSection     "Display"
        Depth       24
        Modes      "1600x1200" "1280x1024" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
    EndSubSection
EndSection

Not sure what flat-panels do though. I'm still running a Large boss-hawg
multisync, which handles resolution changes on the fly like a charm. Ric
