That's to do with mounting disc volumes. rpm -qi gnome-volume-manager If you add the "volume control" applet, with the icon of a rotary volume control, and the description of "adjust the sound volume," that should do what you want. -- (This computer runs FC7, my others run FC4, FC5 & FC6, in case that's important to the thread.)
