I had a similar issue with TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L632D.See http://ics.red-web.ro/f7-on-HP500.html#DVD (get a appropiate firmware for your drive, if there is any.) I am in no way advising you to flash your drive, I'm just saying it worked for me :-)
