That would seem an odd thing to do, as the change in shape indicates a
change in function that the mouse can/will do (the I-beam look for
content selection, versus the pointer look for function activation).

It's not a mouse pointer shape that you're looking to redefine, as such,
you want to change the user interface operations for the mouse.
