Oh, pardon my ignorance I thought you'd want free to be run at the point
where the machine freezes, which is rather hard to do, since it's frozen
which is why I sshed in and used top to get the memory usage as close to
the freeze... anyway, here is the output of free (while machine is
running):-
]$ free
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 2061304 747264 1314040 0 20124 285852
-/+ buffers/cache: 441288 1620016
Swap: 2031608 0 2031608
which is pretty much the info from top, no? :-) :-
Mem: 2061304k total, 2042936k used, 18368k free, 44764k buffers
Swap: 2031608k total, 0k used, 2031608k free, 679356k cached
