Strange thing with my "Hard Days Night" DVD

It plays French and not English but on my DVD player, it plays English.

When I try to start mplayer requesting alternate audio track with either
-aid 1 or -alang en - it doesn't help. When I start mplayer with -v
(verbose), I get the following...

Playing dvd://1.
get_path('sub/') -> '/home/craig/.mplayer/sub/'
URL: dvd://1

How can I get it to play English?
