I have an iRiver MP3 player. Previously, when I have attached it to my Fedora system, it has been automatically recognised and mounted and an icon has appeared on the desktop. Just now when I plugged it in, I didn't get any of that happening. I still got the following messages in /var/log/messages Feb 25 21:25:15 giles kernel: usb 1-7: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 109 Feb 25 21:25:15 giles kernel: usb 1-7: configuration #2 chosen from 1 choice Feb 25 21:25:15 giles kernel: scsi14 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices Feb 25 21:25:20 giles kernel: scsi 14:0:0:0: Direct-Access TOSHIBA MK4004GAH JC00 PQ: 0 ANSI: 0 CCS Feb 25 21:25:20 giles kernel: sd 14:0:0:0: [sdc] 78126048 512-byte hardware sectors (40001 MB) Feb 25 21:25:20 giles kernel: sd 14:0:0:0: [sdc] Write Protect is off Feb 25 21:25:20 giles kernel: sd 14:0:0:0: [sdc] Assuming drive cache: write through Feb 25 21:25:20 giles kernel: sd 14:0:0:0: [sdc] 78126048 512-byte hardware sectors (40001 MB) Feb 25 21:25:20 giles kernel: sd 14:0:0:0: [sdc] Write Protect is off Feb 25 21:25:20 giles kernel: sd 14:0:0:0: [sdc] Assuming drive cache: write through Feb 25 21:25:20 giles kernel: sdc: sdc1 < sdc5 > Feb 25 21:25:20 giles kernel: sd 14:0:0:0: [sdc] Attached SCSI disk Feb 25 21:25:20 giles kernel: sd 14:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg4 type 0 And I can still get access to the player by manually mounting /dev/sdc5 to the appropriate directory. But it used to be an automatic process and I'd like to get that functionality back. I recently did a clean installation of Fedora 8 onto this system. I'm pretty sure that it has worked since the upgrade (but I can't be 100% sure of that). Any advice appreciated. Cheers, Dave...
