I guess you cannot use dd or cp to burn a cd from
command line, use cdrecord which now points to wodim 

[olivares@localhost ~]$ ls /usr/bin/cdrecord -l
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 5 2007-08-21 14:18
/usr/bin/cdrecord -> wodim

Type 
[olivares@localhost ~]$ cdrecord --help

and depending on your cd that you want data/audio you
use the parameters that are needed.
