Hello, I have a F8 laptop with the 2.6.23.14-107.fc8 kernel. I started having strange printing problems (slow, stopping, printers going offline) and noticed MANY messages as:

Jan 31 11:28:18 dufus kernel: printk: 2 messages suppressed.
Jan 31 11:28:22 dufus kernel: printk: 1 messages suppressed.
Jan 31 11:28:28 dufus kernel: printk: 2 messages suppressed.

Anyone else seeing this?

Thanks.

Can you find the initial kernel message?
E.g.

printk: sleep while atomic in XXXX.
printk: 10 messages suppressed.
printk: 7 messages suppressed.
...

No I cannot. I've grepd for printk in all of the messages* files, and the only message that shows up is the "kernel: printk: 2 messages suppressed." type message. I did notice that the first showed up Jan 5, but then didn't have any till Jan 21.

messages-20080106:Jan 5 23:32:05 dufus kernel: printk: 2 messages suppressed.
messages-20080127:Jan 21 07:44:06 dufus kernel: printk: 3 messages suppressed.
messages-20080127:Jan 21 07:44:10 dufus kernel: printk: 1 messages suppressed.
messages-20080127:Jan 21 07:44:16 dufus kernel: printk: 2 messages suppressed.

Yum log show that nothing was updated the 20th.

Strange. I know that my printing problems are not kernel print statements, its just that event caused me to look at the logs.

Thanks.
