I'm running it, hand built, here, and cannot report either problem. I did
have to do a hardware reset early this morning, my boot drive was reporting a
tummy ache that has me worried about its health. This is the last of about 10
such instances that made the log, but since the reboot, its all kewl again:
=========
Jan 27 07:49:00 coyote kernel: [212422.267528] ata1.00: exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x2 frozen
Jan 27 07:49:00 coyote kernel: [212422.267539] ata1.00: cmd 35/00:a8:41:19:09/00:01:00:00:00/e0 tag 0 dma 217088 out
Jan 27 07:49:00 coyote kernel: [212422.267545] ata1.00: status: { DRDY }
Jan 27 07:49:00 coyote kernel: [212422.267573] ata1: soft resetting link
Jan 27 07:49:00 coyote kernel: [212422.429810] ata1.00: configured for UDMA/33
Jan 27 07:49:00 coyote kernel: [212422.429826] ata1: EH complete

and the new log starts after that, and is nominal now.

Smartd had been spamming the logs before that but reading the temps
wrong by doing a double C->F conversion, reporting the temp as >120C
when it wasn't even 95F according to a finger laid on it. That drive
is in the bottom of the tower and runs 5F warmer than the other 2
which are in 3.5-5.25 adapters with builtin cooling fans. I have
started a 'smartctl -t long /dev/sda' on it now for additional info.
The drive isn't that old. POH=27754.
