I also found using package-cleanup --problems that about 50 or more
packages noted as missing their requirements. However, the files are on
disk; they just aren't in the rpmdb. [2] didn't suddenly make it all
good, so I have yum install any missing packages in groups of 5 or so
packages, with apparent success the first time.
I did a fair bit of boot runlevel 2, and installing those {not acutally}
missing rpms, or the rpms providing certain sonames. But some where
along the track thunderbird no longer started.
rpm -V thunderbird showed about ten files with bad md5sum, including
thunderbird-bin and libxpcom_core.so. This was yum removed, and install
again. And now seems to operate OK.
Gonna rpm -Va and see what other problems are left over - but still
welcome any hints if you have them {since I still get problems with yum} ?
