I've had that problem on one or two systems.  One of them had several
ATAPI drives (ZIP, LS120, CD-burner, DVD-ROM), and my BIOS would let me
boot from only some of them.  I had to unplug some drives to do an
install.

I don't think I've seen further information, yet, about your system.

The list of install devices is just a list, the system has to know how
to access the DVD that entry points to, separately.  It'll still list
DVD as a choice, even if you didn't have such a drive on your system.
