Same problem with nvidia-x11-drv-96xx-1.0.9639-1.i386.rpm on my 32bitsystem (antique GeForce2 MX/MX 400 card). I fetched the latest legacydriver from nvidia.org (NVIDIA-Linux-x86-96.43.01-pkg1.run.bin) whichbuilt and runs without any glitches.
