I had a look at the nvidia site. It turns out that the 100-series drivers are now reunified, hence the user no longer needs to figure out which driver to use (ie. 9000 and legacy are deprecated). As a result, I switched to the 100-series nvidia kmods and the corresponding xorg-drv-nvidia, and voilà! I had to shift my display to the right and glxgears runs fine.
