It appears to be a bios problem with "quiet & cool", dual core
processors, and the A8V. My A8V deluxe was rock solid stable until I
updated to an X2 processor. After upgrading to an X2 the system was
practically unusable most of the time.

After A LOT of trial and error trying to figure out what was wrong, I
found disabling "quiet & cool" in the bios solved the problem for me.
The system has been back to it rock solid performance ever sense.

Hope this helps.
