It pretty much is a personal choice. However, it has been demonstrated that more MP can't be discerned by the average viewer. I'd read the various reviews on that camera and similar ones just to make sure you are getting the features and performance you want. It probably doesn't make as much difference these days...but one thing to check is the startup time. Meaning the time between you hit "on" and the time the camera is ready to take its first picture. Also of importance is the "shutter delay". The time between pressing the button and when the camera takes the picture. In both cases, the shorter the better. IMHO, I'd go for the optical zoom over MPs and 3X optical 6X digital. If course, you should have also asked what software is best used with your digital camera.
