that makes a big difference in how you should slant your talk, i
would think.
put another way, once your talk is over, does it affect you or your
pocketbook in any way whether you've convinced anyone? :-)

If you are trying to sell Linux, I would take a clean computer and
install PCLinux or Ubuntu while making the talk. Show them a fresh
install and all the tools and applications that are included. Hopefully
with full Compiz support.
Hands on is the best teacher.
