Hello, I logged into my F7 machine using WinSCP to transfer some files to a Windows box with a different user account than I normally use (that is how I noticed the resources still being used). It seems that even after I completely disconnected the ssh login, there is a lingering process hanging around: [root@localhost ~]# ps waux |grep user user 3046 0.0 0.2 38604 2876 ? Ssl Oct21 0:00 /usr/libexec/bonobo-activation-server --ac-activate --ior-output-fd=16 That is keeping some files open: [root@localhost ~]# lsof |grep user bonobo-ac 3046 user cwd DIR 8,2 4096 2 / bonobo-ac 3046 user rtd DIR 8,2 4096 2 / bonobo-ac 3046 user txt REG 8,2 99844 313588 /usr/libexec/bonobo-activation-server bonobo-ac 3046 user mem REG 8,2 259028 213023 /lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0.1200.13 bonobo-ac 3046 user mem REG 8,2 50840 213032 /lib/libnss_files-2.6.so bonobo-ac 3046 user mem REG 8,2 129716 213043 /lib/libpthread-2.6.so bonobo-ac 3046 user mem REG 8,2 44052 213049 /lib/librt-2.6.so bonobo-ac 3046 user mem REG 8,2 16564 213059 /lib/libgthread-2.0.so.0.1200.13 bonobo-ac 3046 user mem REG 8,2 1254560 313107 /usr/lib/libxml2.so.2.6.29 bonobo-ac 3046 user mem REG 8,2 129824 213010 /lib/ld-2.6.so bonobo-ac 3046 user mem REG 8,2 1673804 213017 /lib/libc-2.6.so bonobo-ac 3046 user mem REG 8,2 216536 213025 /lib/libm-2.6.so bonobo-ac 3046 user mem REG 8,2 20660 213027 /lib/libdl-2.6.so bonobo-ac 3046 user mem REG 8,2 74676 213033 /lib/libz.so.1.2.3 bonobo-ac 3046 user mem REG 8,2 647764 213021 /lib/libglib-2.0.so.0.1200.13 bonobo-ac 3046 user mem REG 8,2 11320 213031 /lib/libgmodule-2.0.so.0.1200.13 bonobo-ac 3046 user mem REG 8,2 357704 324983 /usr/lib/libORBit-2.so.0.1.0 bonobo-ac 3046 user mem REG 8,2 23120 324994 /usr/lib/libORBitCosNaming-2.so.0.1.0 bonobo-ac 3046 user mem REG 8,2 92756 324995 /usr/lib/libbonobo-activation.so.4.0.0 bonobo-ac 3046 user mem REG 8,2 409472 324996 /usr/lib/libbonobo-2.so.0.0.0 bonobo-ac 3046 user mem REG 8,2 65179696 312403 /usr/lib/locale/locale-archive bonobo-ac 3046 user 0u CHR 1,3 1801 /dev/null bonobo-ac 3046 user 1u CHR 1,3 1801 /dev/null bonobo-ac 3046 user 2u CHR 1,3 1801 /dev/null bonobo-ac 3046 user 4r FIFO 0,6 14937 pipe bonobo-ac 3046 user 5w FIFO 0,6 14937 pipe bonobo-ac 3046 user 6r FIFO 0,6 14938 pipe bonobo-ac 3046 user 7w FIFO 0,6 14938 pipe bonobo-ac 3046 user 8r FIFO 0,6 14939 pipe bonobo-ac 3046 user 9w FIFO 0,6 14939 pipe bonobo-ac 3046 user 10r FIFO 0,6 14940 pipe bonobo-ac 3046 user 11w FIFO 0,6 14940 pipe bonobo-ac 3046 user 12r FIFO 0,6 14941 pipe bonobo-ac 3046 user 13w FIFO 0,6 14941 pipe bonobo-ac 3046 user 14u unix 0xeba4a000 15098 /tmp/orbit-user/linc-be6-0-bf57720c1866 Is this typical? On my machine it is not a big deal since I am one a few users on it and it is rebooted semi-frequently but I could see how this might add up to be a problem on a heavily multi-user box. Maybe it clears out as soon as someone else logs in. I don't know. I just wanted to flag this observation and get an expert opinion just in case it was a real problem. /Mike
