See if this helps:  Run gconf-editor (the gnome configuration editor),
navigate your way into /apps/gnome-power-manager/ and look at
action_power_button.  The configuration editor lists various options,
try giving it a value of nothing.

It's a per-user setting.

(This computer runs FC7, my others run FC4, FC5 & FC6, in case that's
 important to the thread.)
