I just replaced the "-- noclear" strings in my /etc/inittab with "--clear" (note the removal of the space) and now I get a long list of /sbin/mingety: unrecognized option `--clear' /sbin/mingety: unrecognized option `--clear' /sbin/mingety: unrecognized option `--clear' /sbin/mingety: unrecognized option `--clear' at the end of the boot process.
