You should really read the manual of nagios for that.

Version 2:
http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/2_0/toc.html

Version 3:
http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/3_0/toc.html

There are a load of options with nagios, also with the rights, and all
explained here.
