A google search on "/var/log/messages strange power saving setting" (NOTE: without the quotes!!!) brought up a lot of hardware issues unrelated to settings. Perhaps it is time to clean the machine, check and/or replace the CMOS battery, see that it is getting proper cooling and good quality power. As well, if you live in a lightning hammered area, are at the end of a long power feed or work anywhere close (say two miles) to large electric motors or in city construction check your impulse protection (which you do need). If you do not already have one on the server, consider a UPS, if you do have one see that it is functioning properly. Good hunting! Tod
