I went to the trouble of installing kino and all its dependencies from
the Livna repository, then fired up my Elura 100 camcorder, plugged in
the 1394 cable, and started kino. Kino complained there was no raw1394
device. I ran 'modprobe raw1394', and there is no such device. So
hitting the 'Capture' button in Kino does nothing for me. Here's the
/var/log/messages output (only the last two lines may be of interest):

I see from Googling that the firewire stack is broken for Kino 1.1.1. Is
there any way for me to restore the ability to download video over
firewire with Kino? Maybe I can do this in CentOS 5?
And Sean, if you are out there, I'll post the output for the Elura
connected over USB and PTP tomorrow.
