I disagree that RPM files are flawed. Some sure are but most are
quite good. And some Debian stuff is pretty bad too :-)
It's missing some capabilities but I don't think debs are that much
better. These guys seem to get it right with conary:
http://wiki.rpath.com/wiki/Conary but it takes a special distribution
and the rbuilder part isn't free.
