I get the dbus error message, I see things like that all the time when I
start quite a lot of different software from the command line.  But the
program does run without crashing.  

I'm using:  pidgin.i386 0:2.1.0-2.fc7 and libpurple.i386 0:2.1.0-2.fc7

If it does keep on crashing, follow the information the rest of your
message quoted, from pidgin, about making a bug report as it asked for.

Using FC 4, 5, 6 & 7, plus CentOS 5.  Today, it's FC7.
