Perhaps you can post what you're adding to authorized_keys so we can
see the format.  If I had to guess, I'd say that perhaps the format of
your keys is not what ssh needs.

You might also get some useful help by setting the LogLevel parameter
in /etc/ssh/sshd_config to DEBUG, reloading sshd, and then tailing
/var/log/secure (and maybe /var/log/messages?) during a login attempt.
