To verify that statement, you need to use a query that will show the arch
of the installed packages.  Try:

rpm -qa --queryformat '%{name}-%{version}-%{release}.%{arch}\n' kernel\*

Or look for any i586 packages

rpm -qa --queryformat '%{name}-%{version}-%{release}.%{arch}\n' | grep i586
