That's an older release, current is NVIDIA-Linux-x86-100.14.11-pkg1.run, installed by directly executing the file during bootup. It Just Works(TM). Get it from the nvidia site, much fresher stock.
100.14.11 doesn't support his GPU. He needs to use 1.0-9639.
