If I have 2x1GB memory sticks that would be dual channel and I only insert one stick will it be 1GB of (obviously) single channel memory? Just curious.
It's dual channel only if the motherboard chipset/architecture supports it and only if the memory are in matched pairs; i.e same size and speeds; otherwise it's single channel operation or failure (no boot or not all memory is recognized).
