On 64 bit machines, gcc compiles by default to 64 bit code.
Or does gcc look at the machine architecture and make a decision on its own.
On 64 bit Fedora, gcc by default compiles to 64 bit. That's it.
So, a quick discussion of the niceties of 32/64bit compiling would be appreciated.
There's nothing really to discuss. On PowerPC-based hardware, gcc compiles, by default, to powerpc code. On 32 bit Intel, to 32 bit Intel code, on 64 bit Intel, to 64 bit Intel. That's it.
