Sorry, Aaron, but CDs (even CDRWs) don't work that way. You can create an image, and burn that image to a CD, and then (if you have a CDRW) erase that image and write a new one, but they're not a random- write device like floppies and hard disks.

There are some software packages that will let you continuously append to a CDRW without closing the write session, but I don't expect you'd be able to do that using standard command line tools.
