I have a Sempron64 based system with onboard S3 Unichrome Pro graphics and an Adaptec 2940UW SCSI controller. The system already has functioning versions of 64bit White Box 3 & 4 and Fedora 5. When I load a fresh version of Fedora 7 into a new partition, the system loads correctly and goes through the first boot screens (license, etc.) However when rebooting after that, the system freezes just before it would switch to the gnome login screen, and the only symptom is that the SCSI activity light is solidly on. Rebooting to init level 3 does startup correctly, but then doing 'init 5' causes the same freeze. Loading a copy of FC6 shows the same behavior, both on initial load and after running all updates. Given that the system works normally on the other o/s loads, but fails on both Fedora 6 & 7, it would seem to be something to do with the current versions of either the graphics or the Adaptec drivers, or some interaction between them. Has anyone experienced this? I have done some searches but found nothing relevant. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Looking for a deal?
