I was given one as a gift that turned out to be dodgy (most embarassing
for the both of us).  The friend who gave me tested it and didn't find a
problem, but every test I did showed one:  Corrupted files.  I had to
fill the drive past a certain point before the errors occurred, and it
didn't matter whether it was Windows or Linux...

Since then, I test new flashdrives.  I fill them almost full, then use
"diff" to check for errors.
