Kam - maybe you were in a hurry. This is not about name resolution errors.
Using smart, yum, synaptic, or just plain rpm, I'm getting a segfault when I
try to update pam and pam-devel, or in the case of the GUI based apps,
they're just freezing, locking up with no error messages - there's no CPU
activity going on at that point -- there's just a window with no info, or a
stuck progress bar, or an endless hourglass. If I download the rpms and use
rpm to try and install pam and pam-devel that's when I get a clear message
which is a segfault. I tried the --force option as well, but just segfault.
And removing pam is not an option, because it wants to remove a ton of other
apps
