Brother provides Linux-compatible drivers for it, but with my Centos 4.5 system I didn't need to do ANYTHING except plug in the USB cable and answer a few prompts that automatically popped up.
[...] This sounds about my speed. It seems, generally, that good, quality printers work with linux ok, but I'm looking for a budget model and would've been happy with a generic inkjet. Years ago, I remember that brother printers were notable for being "straight through", which always seemed such a simple solution to paper jams... -Thufir
