But there is a bug in yum, because it should refuse to install the
kernel without the updated mkinitrd package, because that is what the
kernel says it requires, and by the accounts in this thread yum is
sometimes installing the kernel regardless. The correct behaviour is to
refuse to upgrade (without the new mkinitrd package).

There is a second bug in the release process which allows a package to be
released without the requisite dependent packages.
