Before you go buying drives, take your Fed7 disk(s) to a friend or
neighbor's house and pop it in their PC just to see if it boots. At
least you'll narrow it down to your Mac fouling up the DVD burn or your
PC's hardware is not happy.
Also, you could do a network install if you say you can boot with your
rescue CD:
* install/setup either an nfs, web, or ftp server on you Mac
* make sure your .iso is available via one of the three methods
* boot the rescue CD
* select the install or upgrade option and the hit <tab> for options
* add "askmethod" to the kernel line
* when the installer ask, choose your method and point to your .iso on
your mac
* install like a mad man :)
disclaimer: I haven't done a network install for Fed7, but i've done it
with fc3-6 and the method above works, unless they've changed things
the above should work.

The check sum for the downloaded file is good.
We did the "burn" twice at the slowest speed offered.
Bios is set to boot first from the CDROM drive.
Remember, one disk works and that would seem to indicate the computer
equipment and set up are ok. It pretty much has to be the DVD.
The only DVD writer available is on a Mac and there doesn't seem to be
any way to do anything wrong with it? Or is there and I have found it?
I would like to know what to look for ...

Are you using the same type of media?
We are using Sony DVD-R since the writer wants -R I believe.
The FC-5 DVD is an unknown type with no markings, but it works.
I am presently copying the files to a portable USB drive that the
installer on the rescue CD seems to recognize. That is my great hope
now! But the portable drive is very slow and I'm waiting for it to
finish.
