Need for correct application names for filing bugs.

Hi All,

I think this is a rather serious issue. I did take the pains of filing out a bug ( https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=243192 ). and was more than shocked to see the bug being closed as WONTFIX !!... Now I see the description and am wondering,

How on earth am I supposed to get the exact application name which is supposed to be used for filing bugs???????

The most obvious solution that struck me was to look at the application's about dialog. Using this information I went ahead and filed a bug, just to find out that it was quite a waste of time.

I do not mind filing bugs, but if the application name tells me that it is "system log viewer", why would I be looking for gnome-system-log (which BTW, i figured out today)? If being a developer myself, I have committed such a blunder, I can only imagine the plight of the non-developers using Fedora and wanting to contribute to the community.

Has it ever been considered to either provide an easy-to-use application that will help the end user file a bug / enhancement request against a particular product? That way, the end user does not have to be a super geek to do it.

Or, setting up a triaging team that would take the pains of communicating with the filer and setting the right component / status on the bug.

Or, provide the explicit application name in the about dialog.
