I have done a clean install of Fedora 7. I am not able to access the
ide tape drive. The following is logged to /var/log/messages while booting:
Jun 6 16:03:59 itox kernel: scsi 1:0:1:0: Sequential-Access Seagate
STT8000A 5.51 PQ: 0 ANSI: 2
Jun 6 16:03:59 itox kernel: st 1:0:1:0: Attached scsi tape st0
Jun 6 16:03:59 itox kernel: st 1:0:1:0: st0: try direct i/o: yes
(alignment 512 B)
When trying to access the tape drive the following error appears in the
terminal:
/dev/nst0: Input/output error
With the following logged in /var/log/messages:
Jun 6 17:01:59 itox kernel: st0: Error 40000 (sugg. bt 0x0, driver bt
0x0, host bt 0x4).
The same result is obtained with or without selinux enabled.
I have gotten the same results from a different machine booting from the
Fedora 7 Live CD.
What needs to be done to get this tape drive working? It has worked
fine with all previous versions of Fedora Core.
