I've also encountered problems with the rpm-packages from livna and freshrpms, but I've installed the nvidia beta-driver 100.14.06 from nvidias beta site: http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_downloads_rel70betadriver.html and it works perfectly well. udev is used correctly there.
