There are upstream bugs in esd that may fix this. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=242059 is a fedora bug that i commented on and will add to I have a simple work around that works on my laptop edit /etc/esd.conf change default_options= to default_options=-nobeeps -unix -as 2 > Ah.
