That has DEFINITELY not been my experience.  I get a lot of attached files of
everything from fonts to graphics PDFs  to Scribus and OpenOffice files and I
can't think of even one time where someone asked or sent any kind of
notification that they were sending me anything.

The only exception to this is the odd time when I'm talking to someone on the
phone and they say, "I'll just email that to you right now" but that's not a
common occurrence by any means.

Usually I just get an email saying, "Here is File X."
