I'm not saying you are wrong, but I have quite a few messages in my logs on my FC6 laptop concerning avahi-daemon, mostly related to NetworkManager and whether I'm running on a wire or running wireless. Some examples below: > May 25 00:07:00 kjclap avahi-daemon[3574]: Withdrawing address record for fe80::219:d2ff:fe5f:41ae on eth1. > May 25 00:07:00 kjclap avahi-daemon[3574]: Leaving mDNS multicast group on interface eth1.IPv6 with address fe80::219:d2ff:fe5f:41ae. > May 25 00:07:00 kjclap avahi-daemon[3574]: iface.c: interface_mdns_mcast_join() called but no local address available. > May 25 00:07:00 kjclap avahi-daemon[3574]: Interface eth1.IPv6 no longer relevant for mDNS. > May 25 00:07:00 kjclap avahi-daemon[3574]: New relevant interface eth1.IPv4 for mDNS. > May 25 00:07:00 kjclap avahi-daemon[3574]: Joining mDNS multicast group on interface eth1.IPv4 with address 192.168.6.107. > May 25 00:07:00 kjclap avahi-daemon[3574]: Registering new address record for 192.168.6.107 on eth1. > May 25 00:07:02 kjclap avahi-daemon[3574]: New relevant interface eth1.IPv6 for mDNS. > May 25 00:07:02 kjclap avahi-daemon[3574]: Joining mDNS multicast group on interface eth1.IPv6 with address fe80::219:d2ff:fe5f:41ae. > May 25 00:07:02 kjclap avahi-daemon[3574]: Registering new address record for fe80::219:d2ff:fe5f:41ae on eth1. Not that I'm actively using IPv6, but it seems to be doing more than just ZEROCONF stuff for me (if indeed it is doing anything at all....) And, FYI, 00:07:00 was when I switched from my wire to my wireless last night (this morning). -- Kevin J.
