Rahul,
ipw3945-ucode was never installed. So rpm -e ipw3945-ucode did
nothing. I have two version of ipw3945-firmware installed:
1.13-1.nodist.rf and 1.13-1.

Hi List,

Installing_Fedora_Core_6_on_a_ThinkPad_T60 to install wireless. I
have an updated version of fc6 x86_64. When I run
'yum --enablerepo=atrpms install ipw3945' I get the output listed
below. It looks like the update for the system is ahead of the
package ipw3945. How do I proceed? Any comments would be greatly
appreciated.

# rpm -e ipw3945-ucode. This package is not in the official
repository. The official package is called ip3945-firmware. Install
that instead.
Did you mean ipw3945-firmware? Which is the correct version. Should I
be able to find ipw3945.ko installed? I don't see it. Thanks for
getting back.
Alternatively add exclude=ip3945-firware* to /etc/yum.conf if you want
to retain the third party repository package.
