Ok so I have tried to upgrade in the hope that it will install grub using the FC6 Cd’s and when I do it starts to install the bootloader and then comes up with the following message.

"No kernel packages were installed on your system. Your boot loader configuration will not be changed."

I seem to hit a brick wall at every turn.

Any ideas?
