Thanks, I found that out. But I see several other submenu's in the kmenu have been similarly stripped too, so I'm still wondering how one goes about restoring the kmenu. I was under the impression that this was kbuildsycoca's territory, but a run of that by hand only gets me a message that its re-using the old one. Also, several items in the menu no longer work, such as that gentoo file manager.
