Is it okay to clear the /tmp directory then. The permissions are perfect.

I presume it uses the usual /tmp directory, and the first thing that
springs to mind is to check that it's not too full to be used, and that
permissions are set okay.
ls -ld /tmp
drwxrwxrwt 10 root root 4096 Apr 19 17:26 /tmp
