Well I thought I had it taken care of but an hour after I
added the entry exclude=openoffice* to my yum.conf file and
had removed the FC version and installed the OOo version
yum installed the FC again over the top of the other one.

[main]
cachedir=/var/cache/yum
keepcache=0
debuglevel=2
logfile=/var/log/yum.log
pkgpolicy=newest
distroverpkg=redhat-release
tolerant=1
exactarch=1
obsoletes=1
gpgcheck=1
plugins=1
metadata_expire=1800
exclude=openoffice*

# PUT YOUR REPOS HERE OR IN separate files named file.repo
# in /etc/yum.repos.d

Did I do the exclude thing right and in the right file?

This time after removing the FC version for the third time
and installing the OOo version for the third time, I
rebooted the box. I sure hope it stays the way I put it.
