It is not normal. He leaves his x window session running, the
screensaver comes on, and then hh has to log on at the Fedora logon
screen. I suspect something is crashing x window, and disabling the
"fancy" screensavers and only setting a blank one may show it is one of
the screensavers - I have had this before.

his X-window session is over?
The video driver is sub-par and one of the screensavers shows the defect
in the driver. I had screensavers do this before and the video driver
was eventually corrected so the screensaver would not crash any longer.
noof, starwars and a few others are good to try for immediate failures.
When you get the crash, submit the /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old file along
with the screensaver which triggers the defective video driver.
