To answer your questions.

I have no printer connected to the designated FC6 machine in question.

Yes, other machines on the same subnet can print to the printers on the
same subnet as well as remote subnets.

Yes remote printing to a different subnet works fine on all PC's within
the specified subnet.

The problem was not related to cups or the different subnets of each
network it was related to openoffice.  The following change, documented
in the above bug, fixed the problem.

"If you use tools->options->openoffice.org->options and toggle on the
checkbox "use openoffice.org dialog" and then use file->print you will
see the "traditional" print dialog"

When I set openoffice to use the "traditional" print dialog remote
printing via cups worked normally within openoffice.
